Adventures are the best way to learn

  • Greenland Expedition

In April 2017 I was part of team who completed a self-supported expedition to the remote Stauning Alps in Greenland. Following a successful training expedition near Tromsø (Norway) our team spent one month skiing up the Roslin Glacier and down the Bjornbo Glacier, conducting research into the effects of climate change on the ice sheet and completing two first ascents. It was the trip of a lifetime!

  • The Monstrous Regiment

In August 2022 I was part of an expedition to a remote area of Kyrgyzstan. We completed two ascents after several ‘interesting’ river crossings due to the incredibly high temperatures melting the glaciers and snow nearby. Our team also aimed to complete a skill share, to educate and inspire the next generation of expedition leaders.

This was The Monstrous Regiment’s first expedition and team members are now having some well-earned rest before planning our next adventure. You can read about our exploits in Sidetracked Magazine (February 2023).

  • Lectures and Writing

    Lectures and Writing

A few years ago I wrote gear reviews for an outdoor magazine (sadly closed during Covid). Having my words published was daunting due to its permanence, but overcoming that hurdle was a big step forward for me. You can now read two of my recent pieces:

    Sidetracked Magazine
The Monstrous Regiment: Side Notes from an Expedition
    (volume 26)

    Intrepid Magazine
How to Climb an Unclimbed Mountain in Kyrgyzstan

Thankfully, speaking has never been a problem and I have given talks at Horizon Lectures, Kendal Mountain Festival and to the Women’s Alpine Adventure Club and Austrian Alpine Club.
